Hotels in Other Countries
Visiting another country, especially for the first time, can be a very fearful experience. You are exploring unknown territory and aren’t familiar with the customs and traditions. However, you can ease your anxieties by thoroughly researching your foreign destination prior to your arrival. One major aspect of travel that has to be addressed is accommodations. Hotels in other countries are normally similar to those found in your homeland. There may be a few slight differences, such as no television, phone lines or systems, or even the décor of the guest room. For example, a hotel in the Caribbean typically does not have a television. They will contain phones, but sometimes the phone only reaches the front desk and does not dial out to any part of the city. A hotel in Europe will probably be very similar to hotels in surrounding countries. These are normally just what you would expect from a hotel. Most have two double beds or king size beds, a television or radio, phone, and air conditioning and/or heating. In addition, these hotels will normally offer room service, bellhop, concierege, and have amenities such as hot tubs or swimming pools. Hotels in other countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, or other Asian areas may be a little more hard to get used to. While some hotels do offer the typical amenities of any other hotel, many are without electricity, phone, or other luxuries that you consider routine. The best way of researching your options is to research the internet. Read about the country you are visiting and find reviews on hotels in that country. Talk with other people who have been to that country. Sometimes word of mouth is the best referral system. Hotels in other countries can be a very exciting experience, and with preparation in advance, in can also be one of the most memorable experiences of your lifetime! |
