A Rocky Start to the New, Improved Aladdin Hotel
The new, improved Aladdin Hotel was scheduled for its big opening on August 17, 2000. Thousands of the new luxurious suites were booked months in advance and a big opening night bash with fireworks was planned for opening night. However, the building was shut down while Clark County building inspectors made sure that the building was fire safe. The inspection was delayed and many of the high roller guests were left out on the cold as the hotel could not open on time. However, the hotel quickly gained its reputation as one of the hottest and luxurious places to stay while in Las Vegas.
